Message behind “How I Fight My Battles Design.”

How I Fight My Battles

The initial meaning behind this design actually comes from a previous Pastor, James Richardson. I can remember him always teaching about the tools in a Christian’s tool chest. Two of the most powerful tools were Prayer and Praise. He always called it a one-two punch. He was a retired Army veteran and stood in a boxing stance as he made the reference. That image stood with me for years. But I can say I didn’t truly live it out until July 2018. I found myself in one of the lowest times in my life. I was dealing with a tough time of depression and anxiety, and couldn’t eat or drink water without getting nauseated. On Jun 25, 2018 my daughter left for a mission trip to Honduras. That week, I went to St Augustine, FL for a beach trip and spend time alone with God. During that week, I’d get up early in the morning to see the sunrise on the beach. I read, prayed, and listened to Worship music until I fell asleep on the beach. That was truly an amazing time. After years of teaching kids and being involved in church and serving in different areas, I can say I finally understood the one-two punch. My prayer life finally lined up with waiting to hear from God. If felt like a newborn walking for the first time. During one of the worst times, I learned to Praise and the fellowship with God was very special. This design is much more than a popular song, but a testimony.
