Kappa Kappa Psi/Tau Beta Sigma release

I’m releasing two new designs today that mean a lot to me.  Actually, every design is special to me because there’s a meaning behind each.  So let’s get right to it.  While attending the 'Illustrious' Tuskegee University, I was a member of the Marching Crimson Piper Band from Fall 1994 to Fall 1998.  In the Fall of 1996, I had the pleasure of being inducted into Kappa Kappa Psi National Honorary Band Fraternity with 10 more brothers.

Why I became a member?

I grew up in a rural town in Alabama and knew very little about HBCU’s.  My high school band marched corp style.  So the high stepping, show band style was a huge culture shock to me.  We played FAMU the first game of my freshman year.  I remember marching into the stadium and seeing how packed it was.  I remember the atmosphere was electric, but what stuck out to me the most was what happened after the game.  FAMU’s Kappa Kappa Psi and Tau Beta Sigma came over to our buses as we packed to leave.  I remember sitting on the bus in amazement as both schools laughed, stepped, and sang together.  How did you just talk that much trash before the game and now this?  How did you just play back and forth all night and now singing together?  That was crazy to me and I wanted that type of bond.

So when I was initiated in Fall of '96, that’s exactly what I experienced.  I got to meet so many Brothers and Sisters during the next couple of years and I loved every minute of it.

I became a licensed vendor for both organizations in December 2021 and hope to have authentic designs that make Kappa Kappa Psi and Tau Beta Sigma proud.
